Autumn, Journal Writing, Lake Ann

Good morning from the lakeside deck ~

I have sat here since early morning
Watching for sky changes
From night lights to daylight
Watching way before dawn
Waiting for the sun’s horizon rising

Facing the morning sun
Each sun’s ray fell upon my eyes
I could trace its path in beads
I held out my cupped hands
Holding the ball of light
Spreading its rays directly to me

Autumn light ever so slanted
That it made Lake Ann’s waters
Look like flowing bronze mercury
Riding on top of a heavy breeze
From a cold front passing through

As clouds were parting
And dancing away
I saw the softness of an
Upcoming winter’s sky

I have a sense of unease
With undertones of a long goodbye
I try to refocus on life moments
Replenishing to the present now

One ~

Long

Breath

Hoping for a reset ~
Holding onto life
Push and hold ~
An on-light
Glowing green

Morning Still

img_0468-1

I’m held here by a single moment
Stepping outside
Into the cold winter warmth

A soft morning light bathes my soul
In gentle touches
Sweet as sweet soft cheek kisses

Reflections of both land and sky
Shine upon a stilled Lake Ann
Out-stretching trees linger over its shores
Forever, falling into the depths below
But, soon this Escher painting will vanish too

In the distance
Canadian Geese fly through the cove
Leaving only echoes behind

An Ozark mountain sunrise moves over the ridge
And twilight blues
Turn into day
Leaving the world silenced and still

Oh, how my heart wishes to stay
Pausing in this day
For just one more treasured moment
Held in peace and joy

How thankful I am . . .
Gratitude floods over me
Surrounds me
Wraps its arms around me

I embrace this place
With each breath I breathe
Wishing again for a single morning star-rise
But, I must go

Morning Delight

Let my eyes see
In beauty & stillness lay
Fresh & new once again
To know you are with me

The morning is full of vapors
Like an old sunken ship
Lost at sea

Soft summer sun peaks over
The Ozark mountain ridge
And dapples through the mighty oaks

Pouring down into the cove over Lake Ann
Carrying ~ forever shadows
By the arm fulls

As I gather each and every one
I lay them into my lap
With morning smiles and joy

Morning glides into my day
Soft ~ and fully emerging
Changing ~

Changing everything

It touches . . . Even me

September Gold

Once more
These late summer days
Unfold into glorious
September Gold

First Phase — SKY

Sky blues
At an all time high
Blue, blue, blue
So blue ~ I could even fly

Second Phase — EARTH

many harvest colors
scratch the landscape ~
old brown hardwoods
new roadside reds
bright orange edges and
yellow sunshine golds

just simple stubble
on these ancient hills
sticking out —
like an old man growing
a brand new beard

orchards sit
on both sides of the road
plentiful red delicious apples
ready for picking and
offering apple cider makings

Third Phase — WATER

summer droughts
have parched the lands
and stilled rivers
but now
from around the bend
over and across the cove
moving down river
Cyrstal Springs and
Sugar Creek waters
begin to flow again

Fouth Phase — PEOPLE

framed by tree bridges
campfires and paddle boats
new campsites dug in
tents and trailers
fill every nook and cranny

fairy tales
fly out of story books
stories abound —
cane pole fishing and
catching rainbow trout
for iron skillet cooking

grandpa
tapping maple trees
for their sweet sugar sap
stirring up golden brown
home made country syrup

Fifth Phase — SPIRIT

And I . . .
watch each new sunrise
listen to the morning blue heron calls
pray for peace and some measured joy
then
with one step
walk out again
along these Ozark woodland trails
now through overgrown shores
waiting to hear the call to stay!

Once more
These late summer days
Unfold into glorious
September Gold

Good Morning from the Lakeside Deck

This morning I ventured down to our dock for my morning coffee.

It’s simply a perfect morning .~ mind you this is AR in July! ~ only 57 degrees with a high of only 81!

A most thoughtful Northerner came down for a good Southern visit!! A great July 4th week & weekend!!
Sending you big wishes for a fantastic 4th!!

My morning writing ~

I awake to an emerald blue sky
Tree shadows play
Along my bedroom walls
Oh my, what music befalls
An unsummoned symphony
In full three chorus refrain!

I live in the beautiful Ozarks
Across from Bear Point cove
On lovely Lake Ann ~

I hear the sky winds blow
As they travel through the mighty tree tops
Sudden gusts over the lake
Only to settle down to lay
Quiet & still in the bay

A lone grey heron flys low
Along the limestone ridge
Long neck tucked ever so
Flying straight ahead
Intent on getting to it’s
Destination!

Ozark High

photo (44) sky tree

I live high in the Ozark trees

Where golden pine tree warblers perch on high

And bird songs run rampant through tall tree tops

I live up close where I can meet the ancient sky trees

Adorned by white summer clouds floating by

Hallowed tree-framed windows to the top of the world

Where song birds build their nesting homes

Feed and care for their young

And newborns  learn to fly

Leaving home to find their own home

Parents don’t wait for their return

Even in old age —

Nature has truly completed its work —

I live among new beginnings!

This Beauty Still

Oh, the awakening day
hushed into my morning sky
folding
night covers away
I watch
this morning’s sky rise
from opalescent pearls
to the hush of pink wild roses
pushing
obsidian nights away
painting early dawn’s blues
upon distant hills
I rise
to this morning’s silent call
to lighten my heart
to touch the gentle dawn
beauty
stills
my
Ozark heart
I meet
a crisp cool early fall
kissed upon
this late summer’s  day
I walk
these Ozark shores
among the hawthorns & pines
captivated by nature’s beauty
I sit
in stillness
lost in the moment
held steady & sure
I reach
for the morning sky
and ride gentle breezes
caught on a whim
I travel
over mountain tops
my spirit soars
guided by these hills
beauty
steels
my
Ozark heart!
