Nestled Days

Written for @dVersePoets at OpenLinkNight this last Tuesday of January . . .

nestled days gone by

snowdrops fall and fall again

days grow longer and longer

now at the half-way mark

turns toward spring

and I

wishing for

kindness of spirit

and lasting patience

finding rest

at the feet of my home’s hearth

for flowers to bloom

pushing out from the frozen dark ground

from this winter’s barren soil

a simple Irish wish

a spark for my spirit to do the same

even on the harshest winter day!

Good morning from the lakeside deck –

even on the coldest of days
sparkles falsh on and off on the waters
simple respite for the soul
bright sunshine
falls upon the floor
me and my cockers stretch out
aw . . . warm bless!
marshaled gale forces
push the now frozen ledges
red rover red rover
won’t you let the geese come over?

A Winter’s Song II

Night’s twilight from sunset to dusk —
An unbearable panic rushed past my frigid door
From dusk to dawn’s winnow outpour
Pushed by winter’s relentless misery call
Eminent pain and life stories unraveled my heart
A full moon relished in delightful recall
Roaming its ghostly haunts frozen and held to earth
Unable to move beyond endless grief
Pressed by an empty disbelief
Surely I must endure this winter’s sting!
Morning’s twilight from dawn to sunrise –
At first splendor’s sight
Grey clouds parted overhead in delight
Bringing new warmth renewed by winter’s sun
Deepened blue sky-leaves filled the skies undone
Warming hearts during the coldest winter’s song
Unfrozen all along
And at least for a moment near
I feel an indescribable ease
I am here in the now
Present — in my winter’s lodge
I fall into my bedroom’s window view
Beauty has arrived!
No calls necessary
I am released
Folding myself into the welcoming arms of a new day
I discard my plights as I walk out onto the wooden quay
Holding time near
My spirit simply takes flight
Over these woodland hills and Lake Ann’s piers
Out toward the open waters emerging invite
Carried aloft by inspiring sky-winds – a new shore appears
All in hope of this winter’s song!

Winter’s Bitter Cold

caught in
winter’s bitter cold
and gusty winds

forced indoors
I ~ stalled
on hold
waiting and waiting
 and then
God grants me
one small miracle

I ~ sitting
in front of my fireplace
into some eternal flame

and me beyond searching

propelled into nothingness
and then catching the flames

I ~ fall
into a most irresistible grace

by my home’s
welcoming hearth!

In Solitude

my cup is full of loneliness
I need your arms to hold
with you, i am everything
even in solitude
you are with me
hand in hand
as i walk between the pines
along this changing shore
my path I find
life is more than what we do
life is the love that we live
life is you
I choose to believe
that even in loneliness
I can hold this cup

First Day of 2014

From the lakeside deck — Some of my morning writings —

wind chimes ringing
tells all there is to tell
rings of times to come
moments present
and past dreams
pulled by winds
passed by in stillness
ringing for us all
light dancing across the cove
bursts of wind stars
floating past me
caught by the light
carried by sky wind
upon these placid waters
and gently ever so gently
carried to shore
