Amber Nights

WRITTEN WITH/FOR #OPENLINKNIGHT @dVersePoets
THIS THIRD TUESDAY IN JULY
A PLACE WHERE READERS & POETS MEET TO SHARE!     –ENJOY

Hope~
fills anew
in new beginnings
and in new lands
amongst migrations of historic proportions
time ebbs in lunar months
Hope~
our destiny
shines forth
 in billions and billions
 of unseen stars
finding a place called home
among new found galaxies
and nine dimensions of space

Hope~
a place still awaits
to conquer our anguish
of inhumanity to humanity
the many lunar scapes
of forgotten moons
and amber encrusted nights
Hope~
sighting billions of sky moons
the launching of new discoveries
destiny finds new land and home
embedded in memories
from our collective past
 imaginations
and shared nightly
 inspirations
held eons ago
 and long forgotten
Hope~
waits for us to catch up!

Summer in Paris

WRITTEN FOR/WITH @dVersePoets 2nd SATURDAY IN JULY
FRENCH TWIST PROMPT

Take me dear to an American movie
Where I can dream of ‘Midnight in Paris’
Acceptance among the glitter chic
Finding a jeweled embrace
Adoration from culture and grace
A French conversion
A story told into early morning
Of Hemingway and Gillhorn
Enjoying friends with sips of
Whisky & rye
Meandering open air markets
Built on cobblestone streets
Fishermen jostle down the quays
Providing a fresh catch of the day
In full view of the river Les Seine
Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘Great Gatsby’
Moments effortlessly penned
Told and retold in lyrical lines
Dancing in Guinguette Great Hall
And waking in foreign places
Playing a part
In some unknown Picasso
Being his muse of  ‘proverb poetry’
Captured in lost cubic collages of poverty
And new Paris streets
I find only you and me
Amongst the streets of Paris
Through open air sidewalk cafes
Underneath river lamp posts
Across the Pont des Arts Bridge
Seine River flowing along a moonlit night
There strolling arm & arm
Singing to a Cole Porter’s piano song
     ~ “Let’s Fall in Love” ~
When will we have our Paris summer?

Summer Rain

I await upon this day
the call of hope &
new beginnings ~
my Arkansas summer rain
the toll is not by bells
deck wind chimes will have to do
laboring in the wind gusts
mighty oak leaf veins turn up
pointing ever skyward
awaiting rewards from a summer’s humid afternoon
hurried winds & clouds
carry our Ozark mountain rains
I await in silence amongst
the song birds twill . . .

Chicago Sidewalks

WRITTEN FOR THIS SECOND WEEK OF JULY
 TUESDAY’S
OPEN LINK NIGHT #OpenLinkNight
@dVersePoets.com
hit the pavement blues – walking a mile in your shoe – left behind steps #haiku
we hurry down the Chicago city streets
passing each magic mile window shop
near a corner
coming toward us
an impoverished woman
with her crying child
we hurry our steps
we keep moving
trying to keep from seeing them
we just repeatedly say,
no thank you
no thank you
no thank you
as if she just offers something for sale
won’t you please help us ladies?
we need some food
      god bless you lady . . .
walking faster we cross the street
she is one of the “invisible” people
and her daughter is one too
haunted faces
tired eyes pleading
hands held out
won’t you help lady?
please, lady
     my daughter is hungry . . .
no don’t ask
just keep walking
please don’t ask
just keep walking don’t stop
don’t make any eye contact
       images kept swirly by . . .
but we are only sidewalk shoppers
we know you not
we can’t be bothered
we are only consumers
not givers
not savers
we buy things
not connecting not really
even wanting to
afraid
afraid
afraid
afraid of what could be . . .

A Treasured Cove

Once upon a hill
Overlooking the Ozark mountains
The horizon held in the first morning light
Bowed boughs
 encircle
translucent
 green
framing
 a perfect
 tree-circle
a stained-glass view
of leaf and tree
Sky winds tremble
as leaves wave
 ever so slightly
hello

The mountain air
 hangs
 still
and then
 lingers
for just awhile
waiting
 for the day’s currents
to catch them
I watch . . . I listen
Bella Vista Eagles
glide on wing
 in pairs

A Great Blue Heron
 flies solo
across the cove
saying
goodbye
 to the rock cliffs below

Summer
Lake Ann
 waters
Gleam like a thousand diamond steps
Across the waves
Oh, God
 I pray
Rejoice in this day
You give us our day

–scared gifts–
A treasured cove of earth and sky
each framed and signed
by you!
