I begin a simple day

I sit down by the lake
its waters bath my soul
joining the morning sun
meant just for me
I am old
I walk this sacred ground
finding a labyrinth beneath my feet
a journey of hope
and new beginnings
I am lonely
I wait for you
upon this path
walking the clouds one by one
through my blue sky day
I know this place
I know this love
and in return trust
I will find my way
all for this one simple day ~

Sparkling Diamonds

today outside

I walk on Lake Ann’s shores

a most delightful morning greets me
porch wind chimes singing
stray cool summer air
from somewhere
must be north or east of here
a marvelous opening act
set in a silvery skies
with just a hint of the moon
lake waters
running sparkles
in sunshine diamonds
only sold by the second

Indigo Skies

indigo skies
on a clear starry night
gives way to
a gentle dawn
held in a whisper blue
I sit with a silken sunrise
trying out my new solstice dawn
light embers
spread overhead
creating our lake’s sky dome
ever changing
cerulean blue
and raspberry plum
a true mixed palate
like a beautiful new scarf
placed over my head
quietly folding
into the curves
of my day
golden light now shines
upon shoreline bluffs
velvet golden shelves
and limestone ledges echo back
to a honey dew sun
morning light filters through
bent woodland boughs
sky winds meet me on the rise
shadows emerge
I rise to my day
in silent prayer
while the world sleeps
yet never still

Feather Stone

feather stone
lay in a flint rock garden
an undiscovered find
picked up and placed
just like so many others that day
in my pockets

piled high on the kitchen table
once again
examined for silver and gold

my only find that day
among flint stone lime
a blue feather stone

I blinked just once
to find my blue bird’s eye
sitting on its feather stone

Hush My Dear

miniature forest lands abound

flights held in imagination
fairyville sanctuary
an old Irish story to spin
a wee song to sing
dancing music and laughter
there where the moss fern grows
only from the northlands
welcomed guests delight in song
a lovely song of joy
a melody in rhyme and time
sung just for you
hush my dear
and you too will hear
the hills calling for you

July 4th
tiny fireworks
twinkle in my eyes
night fireflies
brilliant colors explode
over these Ozark hills
once battlefields
a thousand fallen soldiers
fighting for freedom
sudden flashes
night hues turn into flowers
reaching new fields
creating a painting
of art & sky
tiny fireworks
twinkle in my eyes
night fireflies
