Sky Day Moon

puffy white sails of cumulus clouds
our day moon lingers — just for awhile
passages cut through blue velvet skies
hardly noticed by high noon
yet found in full view — travelers
playing among blue indigo fields
where the moon wins out in a round of hide-n-seek
surprise — no chase necessary
hunted down during day light
along tree line tops of cedars and pines
sky day moon floating along an invisible path
horizons bending into shadows
rising and setting — day moons
grace our blue sky days
absent sometimes — by choice
as it stops to rest
beneath the earth’s many lands
called back for story and rhyme
of afternoon naps and childhood dreams
