Day 7 – Monday, April National Poetry Month
Writing with NaPoWriMo prompts

Today’s prompt is to write a love poem . . . but the object of the poem should be inanimate. You can write a love poem to your favorite pen, the teddy bear you had as a child (and maybe still have), or anything else, so long as it’s not alive!

fits in your pocket
just a wee plain paper tote
folded by a simple half

frangrance of oranges and spice
infuse the aromatic black tea leaves
and can be carried wherever you roam

your tea ceremony, taking time to prepare
one, now two, maybe three more seconds
just until the hot caramel water whirls

simple honey and milk
and with spoon in hand
I finish my brew

really nothing as loving
as a hot cup of tea
morning tea, afternoon tea or evening tea

warm to gathering hands
warm to kindred hearts in conversation
and simply shared, love between friends
