I pick up
and easily throw
upon my shoulders
a long white jacket of
patchwork squares
built from bendable wires
Just enough to slip on
over my coat ~
I imagine my plight
I freely
put on this ~ metal jacket
because
I was left with
no way out
but now I find
it only opens one-way
has no key
no escape
I am locked here
inside this ~ my gated life
I am suppose to
survive
this mountain climb
by just daily living
and fighting the good fight
In this system
where lies and misinformation
shadow box each other
for the prime spot
in our nation’s news
Oh ~ these wires we place
with unhinged malice
escaping any willing action
Now if only now
hearing the calls of our children
somehow shouldn’t we agree ~
To dare to imagine
a different path
chosen
once
and at the same time
safe
and
free?
Thank you Ginny for visiting my blog & taking the extra time to leave your response. So sorry that this has happened ~ a tragedy that should not ever happen! I pray that Congress finally again bans semi-automatic & automatic war guns & large magazine clips. If I had my way I would regulate the bullets!!

Indeed. A different path is necessary, we must listen to the calls. Still reeling here in MA that something like this could happen in my New England. Thanks for sharing your heartfelt words.

Jacquie my friend thank you so much for your kind words. I too hope we finally take action to make changes in our Marion's laws. I'm hopeful that the feeling & talk will take us on a real new path not just one if empty verbage! A CALL TO ACTION
Now you got me going ~ lol thanks again Jacquie!!

Thank you Mary for stopping by today to visit. Glad you enjoyed my poetry. I am still in disbelief that this could even happen too. At a later time I would like to write one in tribute but need more time.
Again, thank you!

Your response is both thoughtful and heartfelt Joan. I'm still at the speechless and disbelieving stage. Well crafted.
