In a quiet time in October,
it’s a rainy day.
I dream of you—
regardless of what
you say.
Your one-word storyline
reveals a secret
hidden among the roses—
bleeding from night thorns,
and where rivers flow against the shores.
Aloft in my dreams
where deadly day fires grow,
your pulse lingers
in the wind.
Will I follow . . .
through the open door?
through the open door?
Overlooked
moments unspent
between our restless souls.
I dream of you—
regardless of what
you say.
The Open Door, written while listening to
Darrell Scott’s Music, Scotland.

I love the opening and closing line. So beautiful, so achy…

Joanie, my beautiful Ozark friend! What a wonderful poem – I especially love 'your wishes shattered where rivers flow against the shores
I dream of you regardless of what you say' And the visual of the open door – so great! K

Joanie! This is yet another fantastic weave…you've laced some intense imagery, softened by the lingering cry I somehow sense in my imagination. I would have to walk through that door…might have something to do with the scents I imagine wafting thru the air in that image! 😉

Susie, thank you for stopping by and for your feedback. Sometimes,
I feel love is so elusive, and then at the same time always there —
if we dare to walk through that 'open door' . . .

What a beautiful poem and the song to go with it. “I dream of you regardless of what you say.” Love is love whether it is accepted or rejected.
