Olly Olly Oxen Free

Time gathered

And held close to my day

Framed by an open window

And a glorious garden gate

Overspreading sapphire blue morning glories

And red geramiums dancing in the dew

Summer oscillating

Right in tune with porch floor fans

Making a most gentle breeze

Nap time declared

Tucked in by my childhood memories

Clothesline laundry waving back at me

I chase white puffy clouds across blue blue skies

Ground cover made of Concord grapes, blueberries & mulberries

Forever mulberry stains

My bare feet, hands and face

Memories fill the afternoon air

I with a care free heart

Time is stolen

And I ~

I’m

brought back home!

Swan Lake

photo Swan Lake

White glistening feather stones

Lay upon solid grounds

Nesting underneath a summer willow tree

Whispering of time together

Held by heart edges

I’m skyward bound

Written for #dVerse Poets Pub for The Dog Days of Summer, Open Link Night hosted by Victoria Slotto: ” No prompt to worry about today. No form to comply with. Just wonderful words for you to play with, to enjoy, to arrange as you will. So, “…spread your wings, and take to the sky!”

I Got No Home

Today gets me a thinkin’ of my Oklahoma hero, Woody Guthrie ~

Riding trains for a song
Living lonely, lonely miles
Through tough & dirty times

Witnesses to the unholy
Plunder of other’s troves
For a penny or a dime
Writing stories from
Ordinary people

Working our fields of bounty
Too close to ignore

Shutting my eyes to hear
We are gathered by the river
Singing Woody’s songs

Seeing

Singing hearts sparkle
With mighty

Hope

Making the unthinkable

Visible

Passing the Walmart corner parking lot
White stones form a fence along the road
Seats offered by massive rock boulders
A hungry American family stands
Children lay
Folded in their mother’s arms

Holding a sign of our times ~

NO FOOD ~ Please Help …..

We need a Woody Guthrie song!

Song Lyrics – Poetry

i ain’t got nobody
ain’t nobody got me
i’m just like a little apple
hangin’ on the tree
don’t nobody want me
i can plainly see
i ain’t got nobody
and ain’t nobody got me

i ain’t got nobody
ain’t nobody got me
i’m just like a chunk of wood
floatin’ on the sea
don’t nobody want me
i can plainly see
i ain’t got nobody
and ain’t nobody got me
