Good morning from the lakeside deck ~

As I sat out on my deck this morning, I realized I needed to keep my eyes and ears open to really see what was right in front of me! We can miss so much in the moments of fast-paced living. Too easily, we pay attention to our phones, read posts from social media, or listen to the news streaming over the TV —so that we actually miss our morning! Time slips away, and our morning is gone before we can even get started. Careful as I go! Focus!

A morning sanctuary

sits in front of me.

Like the first moment to see

or to ever be, in this place.

I touch earth and sky here —

where sacred life meets the shore.

Shouting out glory to this day,

spilling grace and beauty into my heart.

I listen —

I watch miraculously to see — all the beauty here.

as light dances with the land and the world.

How can I not, but stop and stand — to see this magnificent day?

Open wide, these shutters and doors.

Open wide, this earthly hearth.

Open wide, my blessed rooms.

As I gather all I can!
