National Poetry Month ~ April

Day 15#

This Spring morning
Finds me sitting out on my deck
Looking out over placid waters
A coolness surrounds the ridge
And an early fishing boat floats thru the cove

Golden finches stop by for their Thistle
Seed hulls are everywhere
Every perch is full of golden wings
With any sudden movement
They take flight back to the oak trees

The oaks are in full bloom
All looking like early leaves
But only a small cluster tops each flower
Bouquets hang like baskets or badminton cups full of green pollen

Many shades of green
Arise from the silent earth
Lime – chartreuse & moss
Jade – shamrock & olive
Evergreen – pine & emerald
Harlequin – mint & pear

The season now covering everything in pale sheets of green
