Good morning from the lakeside deck ~

Good morning!

Starting my day by Lake Ann ~ blessings for this wonderful Saturday!

I start the day out on my deck which overlooks Lake ANN ~ surrounded by hillsides all about.

Hummingbirds are already up and at it chasing each other through the high trees over to their treehouse feeder.

I touch the earth and sky here ~
My morning writing ~

grey white blue
unmasking the sky
sunshine flows

shaped by lakeside hills
living under a sky dome
I touch threads of blue

morning rise prayers
I’m held in a blue sky cup
my worries let go

Spring

Good morning from the lakeside deck ~

Poetry prompt from Tweetspeak Poetry Press using writing exercises from Mary Oliver’s book, How To Write A Poem. My poem is based on the prompt using a poem by Stevens, Snow Man.

One must be a mind of spring
To feel the rich coolness in the air
And the ground unearthed

To behold the Ozark hills adorned
Sprinkled in spring pinks and service whites
And hold their softness in your arms

To be out and about roaming
Walking boldly among the blossoms
Feeling each new petal and young green leaf

And in April still breathing in pollen storms
While braving the weather forecasts anyway
To walk through the back hollows

Go down by the creek rock springs
And watch the clear waters flow
Then hunt for morels undeneath an old elm tree

Sit in wonder at a mountain lake
To see the sunlight play
And watch the southeast winds hit water tops
Making new disappearing wind-fans

One must have a spring mind
To know what is new
And to find their roots again

Good Morning from the Lakeside Deck

This morning I ventured down to our dock for my morning coffee.

It’s simply a perfect morning .~ mind you this is AR in July! ~ only 57 degrees with a high of only 81!

A most thoughtful Northerner came down for a good Southern visit!! A great July 4th week & weekend!!
Sending you big wishes for a fantastic 4th!!

My morning writing ~

I awake to an emerald blue sky
Tree shadows play
Along my bedroom walls
Oh my, what music befalls
An unsummoned symphony
In full three chorus refrain!

I live in the beautiful Ozarks
Across from Bear Point cove
On lovely Lake Ann ~

I hear the sky winds blow
As they travel through the mighty tree tops
Sudden gusts over the lake
Only to settle down to lay
Quiet & still in the bay

A lone grey heron flys low
Along the limestone ridge
Long neck tucked ever so
Flying straight ahead
Intent on getting to it’s
Destination!

Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree

I’m late — I’m late — but this was written for dVerse Poetics yesterday – Claudia Shoenfeld hosting Meeting The Bar at #dVersepoets with today’s task: Claudia asks us to  “be a bit brave, mix things you wouldn’t usually like…

cats and petroleum jelly
ice cream and motor oil
raccoons and watercolor cakes
missiles and flower poets

…think about contradictions and serve them up boldly place things in an environment that doesn’t seem to fit have fun! – and season to taste! If you need inspiration – Charlie Zero by the way is quite good with this.”

Only you can remember like you do

Under the spreading chestnut tree

I stand with my white horse

Watching dreams come true

Among the wooden ladders and Coke-a-Cola bottles

Waiting in line with Zippo and Ford

Seeing blue skies and memories hung by steel hooks

And I waiting my turn

Hey, you want to try something new?

Fried chicken, now those are real legs to stand on!

Hey, you want to go for a summer swim?

Kayak shores, finding flower blossoms and apple cores!

Only you can remember like you do

Look the very way you do

Out underneath the old fashioned street lamps

Strolling down the vintage shopping mall

Standing with your music held high!
